Art This Way, a program of Downtown Fort Wayne, is hosting its annual Art Crawl fundraising event on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., in Downtown Fort Wayne.

Tickets are available at early-bird rates at artthiswayfw.com/art-crawl.

“Public art has transformed our Downtown, and the Art Crawl fundraiser is a key mechanism for powering our public art program,” stated Director of Art This Way Alex Hall. “The Art Crawl provides us an opportunity to engage with the public, educate the community, and celebrate our newest art installations.”

Theoplis Smith III, aka Phresh Laundry, and Hilarie Couture, will be among the featured artists along this year’s Art Crawl.

Smith, a well-established, Fort Wayne-based visual artist, has several Downtown murals and has previously participated in the Art Crawl. Smith suggested this event for a date night or corporate networking and stated, “…all walks of life come out and get their visual fix!”

Couture was recently awarded an Indiana Arts Commission grant for her work ‘Unity with Variety,’ a portrait series exploring nationalities and cultures in our community. This will be Couture’s first experience participating in the Art Crawl as an artist.

“The Art Crawl is an event that is a platform—not just a FUN fundraiser for public art Downtown—but also an introduction to some of our talent!” stated Couture. “What a win-win for all! I am excited to be part of this event!”

Smith and Couture will create and exhibit their artwork live during the event.

Art This Way is also pleased to announce its participation in Open Streets on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Art Crawl tickets will be available for purchase—and a few lucky people could win free tickets! A photo booth will be set up at the intersection of Grand and Calhoun Street, where photographer Rachel Von Stroup will take your family photos in front of artist Jeremy Stroup’s Blue Heron mural. Underwater props will be provided, and all images will be available for free download on the Art This Way website.

Funding is provided by Downtown Fort Wayne and Art This Way. Thank you to our 2022 Program Sponsors: DeBrand Fine Chocolates, Warrior Breed Motorcycle Club, LLC, CertaPro, MKM Architecture, 97.3 WMEE, Fort Wayne Newspapers, WANE 15, Hanning & Bean Enterprises, Inc., and Bona Vita Architecture.
